A message from Loren:
It is an indisputable fact that modern American politics is awash in money. Over $2.25 BILLION was spent by candidates in the 2012 Presidential election campaign. That money could have been used toward some greater good, like buying every U.S. household a 1-month subscription to HBO Now, so they could binge-watch their way through Game of Thrones and The Wire.
If I genuinely believe that all that money can have a corrosive effect on our political system, then that belief only really means something if I take action when I have the opportunity. And this is that opportunity. It’s hard enough to accomplish any actual good when you’re serving in government; to produce some tangible good simply out of a campaign?
Because of its high ranking and fundraising capabilities, I’ve singled out the Against Malaria Foundation for donors to contribute to. Malaria kills over a million people a year, most of them children, and it makes half a BILLION people a year ill. The AMF contributes 100% of every donated dollar to buying malaria nets. They are the #1 ranked charity with GiveWell, and 100% of each donation is tax-deductible.
To that end, I created a specialized fundraising page for people to donate through, at www.againstmalaria.com/VoteLoren.
And if the Against Malaria Foundation simply isn’t the right charity for you, or you’d rather not donate to them through my fundraiser page, then still please consider donating separately to them or one of the other ranked charities at GiveWell.org.
Thank you for visiting, for reading all of the above, and for donating.
